My hair is wet, but now henna-free, after about six hours of wandering around looking like a cross between Princess Leia and Katamari Damacy characters (mostly due to the limitations of the towel I had wrapped around the bundle) and mopping up the occasional drips.
Henna smells like grass and is green when dry. Mixed with lemon juice and left alone for the night, it's looks like high-quality black mud and smells like henna. After six hours in your hair, it smells more like coffee and washes off like a peat bog.
No clue what the color will be when my hair is dry, but current estimates say chestnut/mahogany auburn.
EDIT : Actually, it seems to be copper. A less, uh, shiny? copper than the manmade dye I usually use, but very close. Which still boggles me, considering how dark my hair really is, but there you have it.
