All Souls' Night

... I think I'm glad that both Zan and Lae are both my characters, on the same account, and incapable of telepathy. Because they just might hate each other's guts otherwise. They're both female, and they're both orcs, but aside from that... yeah.

I have just started playing Okami, which means, obsessive researcher that I am, that I already know the gist of the entire plot, and am now somewhat scared-yet-fascinated-(maybe?) by the idea of combining it with Vagrant Story. The initial conflict potential that pops up is not what I'm thinking of: for all that Sydney's Dark has a nasty habit of reanimating corpses, it's not portrayed as something unnatural so much as "rejected by the current prevailing religion", unlike Yomi's Darkness/Evil/Anti-Nature thing, so Sydney and Amaterasu aren't really in a conflict of ideology, just of metaphor. Mostly I'm vaguely envisioning how Amaterasu and Waka would react to Iocus's followers, and vice versa.

So, my latest time running a new DK though the starter area, two of the ghouls that I raised in the scarlet mines said, "Mommy?" And what does my heartless, cold-blooded, died-twice, MALE forsaken guy do? He hugs them and gives them a noogie.

Heehee.

My dream last night was very long and complicated but essentially boiled down to turning mermaids into death knights. Through subterfuge and disguise and there were ties to this old dungeon that doesn't actually exist in the game, but it was very familiar, and the final thing that got the mermaid patriarch into the trap was a combination of the promise of easily stolen mana and the possibility of nookie from who he thought was one of his many daughters but was in fact the DK-POV character in disguise. Yes. And Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats" got involved in there somewhere, but with different lyrics. And apparently mermaids are really hard to plot around because they can register the movement of your sneaky-talk through the water, so she had to communicate with her assistant/partner DK by telepathically taking control of his ghoul. And the plot to get the mermaid patriarch to actually be somewhat accepting of being turned into a DK instead of just surprise!converted was, like the dream, very long and complicated. And I knew that it would work, because this was all a flash-back. Yes.

But the mermaids were really pretty.

I do not like multiplayer games. I don't like dealing with strangers, being expected to always form parties, etc. I infinitely prefer to play solo, off-line, where I control either one or more people and it doesn't matter if I decide that I care more about the story than the fairness of my methods. In fact, if there are cheats for a game, I usually wind up using them. And dying annoys me.

And yet.

My sister is somehow perverting converting me to WoW.

WTF.
