All Souls' Night

You know you're back into studying Japanese when you spend several hours pouring through the kanji dictionary in order to come up with a way to spell a friend's name, and think it fun.

And of course, I'm such a dork, I don't even think to check the internets for a pre-made solution until just now.

So. I just completely failed a kanji quiz. I got maybe 15 out of 100, which is ouch. However, everybody agreed with me: we were all 殺された and 死んだかった. I blame tiredness, lack of concentration (while trying to study) and the perverseness of our prof (not really) in putting the quiz last so we get distracted by the rest of the class first.

Still, almost immediately afterwards I found that my second class for this morning got cancelled, so I'm content right now. I will take a nap and go on fairly well.

Correction. I will finish upgrading my computer first, and then take a nap. Hello, program! Quit!

Midterm was... not as bad as I'd thought it might be. I think I got all the grammar, I'm sure I got all the kanji (though I blanked out for a while on 宿題. WTF) and if I don't remember some old words that haven't been used since before the end of the previous year, at least i won't lose points on them. I don't have to know it, I just get bonus points if I do. Most of my experience is with spoken Japanese, anyway. *waves it off*

Obviously, I'm a little more coherent than I was earlier this morning, but I've got the second migraine of the day and I'm a little reluctant to take my second-to-last pill to deal with it, since I won't be able to get into the village today, maybe not tomorrow either, and having only one left makes me really twitchy.

... maybe sleep will help.

Aaagh, I have forgotten SO MANY KANJI it's scary. Two weeks from yesterday I go back (although there's another two weeks until classes start) and I just go 'buh' at far too many of these. Not good.

Beside that, I'm mixing up my letters. On the keyboard, I mean. I shouldn't be in a position to say "nog tood" or "to way" or even "to sway," which last typed just now when trying to type what I did just before then - "beofore them" too. Blah.

But I have pretty art on my desktop.

One final done. One final to go. Kanji, as usual, is eating my brain. And vocab is killing me. But that's normal so I don't mind. Much.
