Between the less-than-studio quality of the recording and the fact that I can hear each mistake in excruciating detail and it's horribly embarrassing, I don't usually enjoy listening to songs I'm part of all that often.

But.

Our version of "Begin the Beguine" is the only one I can find that doesn't have soloists or directors or whatever taking liberties with the tempo (it's a dance song, people, and besides, I'm really not as impressed with your long high notes as you are) and whatnot, and aside from maybe two videos on youtube there is no other of "No Thank You John". And I like both of those songs, well enough to have them in my regular (if massive) playlist, and to stop what I'm doing and listen to them when they come up, too.

Which is the backstory for what I'm debating right now, which is whether or not to share them.

Ack, ack, ack. I'm so sorry~~~ I've been ignoring LJ in favor of... uh.

Well, in favor of SCA and singing and SheVaCon and calligraphic AUM-type squiggles and thinking about school and sewing clothes and fumbling back through barely-remembered math and Japanese and story ideas and TRYING TO GET CREATIVE AGAIN, DAMMIT and testing out a stronger dose of my meds and talking to people and reading lots and organizing and cuddling Ruby and coding and cooking and.

Yeah.

Time for a rushed report! )

Good grief, that's a lot of tags.

I need to at least remember the syllables of this folk song we're learning for summer chorus. It's not like the words actually mean anything, since it's been copied from one language to another so often nobody has any idea what they were or might be.

Of course, when dealing with syllables, I find it easiest to do kana. And it does all fit, in fact, if I assume that L = R.

So, more for me than anyone else:

イナネー カプアナ
イナネー カプアナ
エーーウラ
ウラ ウラ
イピエーイピエーイピエー
グワナ グワナ グワナ グワナ グワー チュ!
グワナ グワナ グワナ グワナ グワー チュ!

This is repeated three times, each time splitting into more parts (ie. first time = one part, second time = two parts, third time = three parts).

I was complaining about being "buh" - that is, my mind didn't want to work, but I was bored. Well, that got taken care of. I am now listening to the OST from Beauty and the Beast, and Sesshoumaru is listening over my shoulder, making comments.

I got my first Garbage CD when I was still angry and defensive at the world in general. I felt, dunno... I was glad that there were songs that could express what I wanted. Garbage, of course, is angry rock. I can't listen to as much of it these days, since I've changed my life philosophy, though it sounds incredibly pretentious to say it like that. Basically, it doesn't make me feel vindicated any more, and I listened to it so much that time ago that I know it all inside out and tend to skip past most of them. Linkin Park is similar too me, although I don't like them as uniformly and I was never as impressed by them due to discovering them later and the fact that they're not female and I am. Less similarity. Anyway.

But I still like them well enough that I get another CD whenever the latest comes out, and I listen to it and add all the songs to my total playlist.

So when I heard that they had a new CD out, I looked for it. And I got it. As you can probably tell if you follow them as well - it's a new type of title (and one that made me a little nervous) and songs I couldn't get before. They made me a little nervous too.

But if I just listen to it as music and not as anything else, paying more attention to the sound than to the lyrics...

Yeah, I'll keep on getting their music.

Shine on, shine on, harvest moon
Up in the sky
I ain't had no lovin' since
January, Februrary, June or July
Snow time ain't no time
To sit outside and spoon
So shine on, shine on, harvest moon
For me and my gal...

Which is singularly inappropriate since it's about half a year till harvest. I have no idea why this got stuck in my head. Except that it's the fault of the title two posts ago.

The song's by Nora Bayes and Jack Norworth, by the way. Technically it's "stay outdoors" but the version up there is the one I learned from my father.
