so much love and christmas

Four hours of ballroom. Good stuff, but ow my feet hurt.
... also, I'm kind of tempted to go to the Coop. Dunno.
Anyway, I finished the skirt, which I had forgotten wasn't really suitable for dancing in, and I'm going to have to go back over the seams and strengthen them. In this case, it seems like hand-sewing is best. Which means I have an excuse to take it to classes with me and get comments on it, yay!
(It's a Christmas skirt, the reason why I needed to get to the fabric store. It's poinsettia and white single roses and gold-and-cream-and-rainbow ornaments and ivy on a dark green background, in three tiers, with white tulle over the lower two layers, sort of like layers of snow. I like it. And it's nice, but not really appropriate for most forms of ballroom dancing.)
Instead, I wore black pants and the final version of The Strapless Top That Won't Fall Down Even When You Jump, which works because it takes a sort of shelf of fabric that rests on top of the breasts and, being non-elastic, doesn't fall down even when you jump around, hence the title for this piece. I'd include a pattern for people, except that it's a tailor piece and the size and angle of the shelf depend on the size of the breasts in question.
Anyway, this particular top is also of the Christmas variety, very tasteful, I think. It's various plants associated with the season in shades of green and cream and red, on a background of green and red squares over black. Everything is outlined in gold. I still have a yard of about half width that I can do something else with, maybe. I dunno.
Also, lace is extremely unforgiving when you're trying to make garments out of it.
But the point was the ballroom! Whee! SO MUCH FUN IT WAS EXCELLENT YOU ALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE. Well, no. You all should have taken ballroom classes and then been there so I could have danced with you. Because I can do either part, yes. And my body discovered CUBAN ACTION. While dancing with the guy who'd been my partner for my very first competition, it came to me and it was perfect and we'll see if I can keep it.
And I have balloons, tied to a diet coke can wrapped up in fancy paper.
Man, ballroom dancing. SO much love.
edit | Hah, found TSTTWFDEWYJ pattern with a cream background and modified it.
edit 2 | I then decided that a piece of the pattern wasn't enough, scanned it in, and obsessively tweaked until I could get the whole repeat.
