rabidfarfgirl took me out, and one of the subjects that came up was Sephiroth's boots. That is, I said, "Nidra has Sephiroth-boots." As in, black leather, up to mid-thigh, and with belts to strap them in place.
It occurred to me that only someone who would never have to actually wear such a thing would want to wear both leather pants and leather boots. Especially ones as tall as those. Think about it: from mid-thigh to the ankle, you have two layers of leather, plus lining. And unless the pants are skin tight, that means there's going to be some wrinkling under there as well. Not only would this be incredibly hot, sweaty, and stinky, but it would restrict movement, and it would squeak.
Not the best under normal circumstances, but definitely not acceptable if you intend to do things like, say, lunge, or sneak up on people, or do any sort of intensive combat.
Therefore, I have come to the conclusion that Sephiroth wears as little double layers of leather as possible. Say, only to the knee, so even if the boots slip a little, it still looks like there's pants underneath. Because it would be completely beneath his dignity to wear shorts.
The Farf suggested that they be biker shorts.
So there we have it. FF7's Sephiroth wears black leather biker shorts. Hence the title of this post.
