So. With my computer down and in its resting state (let's insert an "ohpleaseohpleaseohPLEASEwork" here) I decided to rely on books to get me through the weekend. Which, quite naturally, meant I had to go out and buy some. Which was nice. I've gone through three of the five (with the fifth being my own personal copy of the complete works of Shakespeare because you can always stand to have another copy of that) and the last two were by Terry Pratchett. Diskworld, actually, Equal Rites and Reaperman, to be specific. Both old favorites but the ones I'd read before were borrowed off my mother and are quite solidly at home on the opposite end of the country. So I got my own.

So here's where I boast about reading speed. I got these last night, tore through one (quite quickly - a manga) that same night, and then finished Pride and Prejudiced and didn't start on either of the other two until this morning - check that, this afternoon. One-ish. Taking into account the break from 4:30 to 7:00, roughly (the Special Dinner) then we have seven hours to read two average-sized books. Or, if you like, three and a half apiece. Doesn't seem like much to me, but I still think that when it comes to fiction I like and that makes me laugh, I read way too fast. Darnit.

Doesn't sound quite as impressive as reading all five HP books in half as many days, but... Eh, whatever. I guess I was feeling lazy and taking my time to really laugh at everything. No real drive to find out what happened next, or anything.

Right. Anyway. So I sat down and did homework, and all was usual, and it didn't really seem to matter that I have a quiz tomorrow, because, hey, it's grammar that I'm pretty good at, and my kanji seems to be going along just fine, so yay. Homework and harp, and that's it. Eaaaaaaaaaaaasy. (watch me feel stupid later on)

And then I started thinking back, and I came across this. "Revenue". As in an Office of Revenue. And I realised again that yes, Terry Pratchett is indeed British. And so am I, since the other meaning didn't occur to me until a good half our or more after I'd first read the word.

It's been nearly seven years, but I don't think that part of me will fade. Which is good.
