I -- just a few moments ago -- held a bird in my hand. The entrance to Oldenborg is made of glass doors, and birds often fly into them by accident, often stunning themselfs, hurting themselves, or, sadly, killing themselves. This bird was stunned, I think, because even when I got right up to him, he didn't move. I touched him, and he made a short burst to get away. I tried to pick him up, with the intention of carrying him out of footpaths, and he made another short flight. By that time, the secretary had brought a box, and I distracted him with one hand before getting him with the other - like getting a frog, kind of. He was so tiny I could hold him completely with one hand, and only his head and tail were free.

I held him for a while, while we decided what to do. Since he'd flown before, I was pretty sure there were no broken wings, and that, if I tried to put him in the box, he'd fly away. I was right, so he was just stunned, I'm sure.

Still, it was quite an experience. Such a tiny thing!

In case you're interested, Farfgirl, it was yellow and yellow-brown, with a greenish tinge. I think the yellow was on the head and wings (and maby the underbelly), but I'm not sure.
