surei: (none)
I was going to go to a twelfthnight (on the 13th, so not exactly on time, but whatever) SCA event down in Charlotte with my mother. It would be a bonding experience, maybe. There would be people we knew and people we didn't know, and we'd have fancy new garb to wear and all that jazz--

Then Mum got sick. Her new garb kinda went out the window, as well as a couple ideas for Christmas gifts.

And now she's sick (again? still?) and I'm sick, and Dad's sick. All with the same thing, apparently, though in different stages.

So yeah, no SCA thing for us.

In other news, I've been trying to re-memorize kanji, and it JUST WON'T STICK. This makes me more than a little apprehensive for the coming semester, when I have enough mindpower together to be more than just buuuuhhhhhhh from the sickness and all.

Ah. Since I am now feeling better, a bit of news.

I've just recently tripled my memory. Ah, RAM, that is. I got my laptop before you were allowed to specify how much it came with (or something like that), and so I got the standard minimum of 512 mb. But with a handy little plate that removes using an eyeglasses screwdriver, I was able to add another gig to that - which means that I can now use Poser, and experiment some more with Maya, and things like that. Good stuff.

Besides that, a program of mine that I didn't even think about, but which runs the entire time my computer is on (DragThing, one of Kagi's earlier developments, which is dead useful), needed to be upgraded from 4.6.1 to 5.7.1. That's done too, and hopefully these two improvements combined will take care of the slow-down-computer-unto-force-restart problem I've complained about now and then. Of course, I won't say, "Yep, that was it," until at least a month passes, but so far so good.

Tomorrow I dye my hair again. (This summer I have plans to go black, for the second time in my life.)
