storage woes
Aug. 17th, 2006 11:01 amEvery year, I haul my stuff out of storage, and realize all over again that I'm a physically weak person. (Which doesn't really bother me.) Two fortunate things, though: (1) I'm in the same dorm as my storage, which meant nothing but a pair of ramps, and two small flights of steps downwards were in my way. (2) I had help. This is especially good, because while he carried my boxes, I carried his, which were much lighter, and my arms are still trembling, and I'm very very sweaty.
My boxes are still outside my room, but as soon as I've rested a bit, I'm going to bring them in, hunt out my towels and shampoo, and take a shower. Aahhhh, just thinking about it feels good.
After that, a drink.

Aug. 17th, 2006 01:06 pmMore joys of Pomona:
+ carting boxes to and from storage at the beginning and end of the year
+ having help with such, sometimes from the housekeeping staff themselves
+ bathroom and shower doors that don't stay shut
+ no soap (it's hidden somewhere...)
+ OED. I am so happy to have access to it again, I don't care about the rest.

OCOM, day 1
Aug. 17th, 2006 06:23 pmMaking 388 "Welcome to Pomona" cards gets really boring after a while. And then we got to sit on the grass and wait on our turn to get our picture taken. Last year they weren't even put up. If these lovely (or not-so-lovely) pictures get put up all over the campus, it will probably be due to us, not anybody else.
On the good side, I have remembered/re-figured out how to make the door lock automatically, and consequently how to make it not do so, and am no longer bothered by the question of what to do if I forget my keys on a late-night trip to the bathroom, or some such thing.
And I have a pretty card to put on my door.
And the dining halls open tonight, if I remember previous years correctly.
