decisions, decisions
Mar. 23rd, 2004 12:46 pmOkay, so I went through the entire catalogue earlier today (rather, last night, though that's only a couple hours ago) and looked at every single major and every single minor to see what my options were based on what classes I have already taken and what the requirements were for each and what classes I was interested - in other words, what requirements I'd be able/willing to meet.
They are as follows:
- minor in Japanese
- major in Asian Studies
- minor in Asian Studies
- major in Religious Studies
- minor in Religious Studies
- minor in Sociology
- minor in Theatre
Based on what classes I have already taken and what classes I'm most willing to take, what seems like my most likely major is going to be Asian Studies, with the geographic focus of Japan and the subject focus of religion.
I can do the minor in theatre at the same time (it's still what I want to do), but I'm thinking right now that (BIG) Asian Studies + (little) Japanese + (very little) sociology + (some kind of) business = possibilities as some kind of mediator between cultures - for example, helping temples to find land, or Japanese immigrants to deal with American society, or something like that - which, admittedly, probably doesn't pay very well. It's more like a charity-type thing. Besides, with the Japanese (the minor requires that I finish 'advanced' + four other courses) and the French (I could take the 'advanced translation' course) I have possibilites as a translator.
Just doing some thinking, that's all.
