I got my outline for the one paper done and turned in on time, and I've made my first checking-out of books. They're on the Meiji Restoration - from about 1860 to 1868 in Japan. Civil wars and foreign influence and abandoning traditions and all that.

That's a yay, I guess.

However:
Vocab quiz in Buddhism: Thursday
Presentation in French: Friday
First draft of paper due: Monday
Paper for French due: Monday
Paper for Buddhism due: Tuesday

All while classes continue as normal.

Can we say 'ouch'?

I can. Ouch.

Oh yeah. Also: Prospie coming on Saturday, staying through Monday. More ouchies here, since it's really hard to work when you're hosting a prospie.

Let's just say that my speed reading and typing really pays off at times.

And let me make it clear: even though it seems like high school is a lot harder than college at times, right now is the exception to that 'rule'. I definitely never remember having even two papers due around the same time, and we generally got class time to work on them, too. Not here - nope nope, I'm just writing three papers and preparing a presentation on top of regular classwork.

As I said before: Ouch.

I just finished taking essentially 10 pages of notes on snakes for my French presentation, and my partner isn't even here to discuss it with me. So I've got them tacked to my door and am hoping that she'll contact me again some time tomorrow.

And you know what sucks? I've been ranting, and I don't feel any better.

Foo.

Rain here is like snow in North Carolina. Fairly uncommon, and no one seems to know how to drive in it.

Today actually was rather like NC weather. It rained. For real. There was some extremely minor flooding - maybe an inch or so of running water in some un-burned part of some city. They were giving it the same sort of coverage that more incapacitating floods get in NC. Pah.

It was also cold enough to see my breath tonight. Wow, it's actually starting to get cold, and it's only about halfway through November!

Note the sarcasm.

I hadn't realized how much I missed the rain until a car drove by and was loudest with the water it went through instead of the engine, like it usually is here. The sound of a car driving along a wet street, throwing aside water... You'd think it pretty common, huh? I've only heard it once since coming here.

This really counts as the first real rain since I've come here, anyway.
