I have been to the Huntley bookstore twice today, and I should go to the COOP sometime as well. I got a lamp and a hole-puncher/ruler and a pencil sharpener and pencils and staples and a whiteboard for communication and another pair of flip-flops for my poor feet and cards for Susan and Alejandra since their birthday(s) is on Sunday. I'm not sure whether to give them to them before or after we dunk them in the fountain. Either way they might get wet.
Oh well.
I'm finding that tweezers are very good for opening things when you don't have scissors. I still need to get those, and a light bulb for my lamp. I'm having trouble locating Diamond, my RA, but that's really okay. It's more like I'm so busy being with people that I never think to seek her out until she's either off-duty completely or is actively on-duty, at Wigg desk.
I've got some new posters for my walls, including a truly wonderful painting by John Stephens (I think it's a painting) that's kind of like a cross between Escher and fantasy. Things turn into other things, is what I mean, and I really can't describe it. It's called Genesis. I love it.
All in all, I like my room very much right now. It looks lived in, but not messy, not small, not crowded. Once I get the stuff all over my bed (the stuff I recieved/bought today) straightened up, it'll be back to normal: a room I'm not ashamed of and don't mind sharing with others. Yay.
Right now, the three people I'm closest to are Diego and Susan. Yay!
Oh! Before I forget: I met my first stoned-out-of-their-mind person last night/this morning. The only reason I was up was because Meacle had ordered pizza and he and Susan were getting silly and I didn't feel like going to bed when I could hear them laughing in the halls. So I waited up with them, and then sat with them in the lounge as they ate their pizza. We were very hyper and over-energetic from lack of sleep, which meant that we were laughing more than eating. And then this guy wanders in, kinda unsteadily, and introduces himself. We talk a bit, he asks our names, shakes our hands, reintroduces himself. A bit more talking - mostly him taking his time, talking very slowly and quietly and seemingly at peace with the world despite the fact that he supposedly had academic suspension for not doing well enough the previous semester. Then he asked us our names again, and again shook hands. Ah... tried to. He was several inches off in my case, and wasn't really aware of me even as I touched his hand. But he didn't smell like alchohol and he wasn't stumbling or having difficulty speaking, just... floaty. After a little more talking, he said bye and walked off down our hall and we broke out into silent laughter. Oh, the poor guy! When we went to go to bed, I saw him in the next hall just standing and looking at the wall, and we dispersed, agreeing to lock our doors so he wouldn't do something accidentally.
The rest of the story I heard from Meacle this morning. Apparently, he came out of his room a little later on and saw him standing in front of Tim and Alex's room and said, "Yo TJ, what's up?" and TJ (that would be his name) said that he had been considering knocking and then wandered off. So Meacle went to Dan and told him that there was this stoned guy walking around who might be knocking on doors or walking in on people. Dan said he might call Campus Security. And it turns out that Dan and TJ have a class together, so he knows the guy!
Another reason to be in Sub-Free: we know what happened the night before when everyone else 'had fun'. And we don't have to pay any consequences the next day, either. Wheee!
Mwa, everyone. Love you.
