sureiI've wanted a new computer for about 8 months now. But I always thought it was a hopeless dream, so it didn't really bother me. Then, as I'm complaining to Dad about one of the little things that constantly bug and and hedge me in but aren't bad enough to treally do more than complain about, he suggests I get a enw computer. It would depend on Mom, since she's the one who makes the money, but I was still excited. I was sure she's be okay with it, once Dad had explained.
Then Mom comes home from her business trip and Dad talks to her about it.
The first thing she does is to suggest that I try and fix it. She doesn't want to get a enw computer. She's seen me have these inexplicable problems - the freezes, the crashes, the core panics, the stupid bloody lag (which is supposed to happen on an online game, not a freaking computer) - and she'd rather I try and somehow fix this computer that's always had problems than get me a new one. That's probably not what she's thinking, but that's what it feels like, dammit, and I'm just so diaappointed. Got my hopes up for worse than nothing.
Maybe she thinks it was the drive that was screwy. Sure, that's what basically killed my computer three times last year, but I don't have an internal drive now, and it's still fucked up. It's like it overheats or something sometimes. On the other hand, for not reason (I copied another copy that did work (on another computer) just to make sure) I can't play avis, and some programs that were designed to work together now crash each other. But it's not somethign simple. I can run loads of programs at once, no problem. I can run Photoshop and Poser and other large art programs at once, no problem. But then (sometimes right after starting up) Finder stalls and freezes and I have to force restart when I didn't even do anything.
Damn.
I want a computer that isn't hopelessly, harware-ly out of date, and that actually works.
AND THEN! right about where I got to the cut when I was typing up (since I wrote this originally by hand), things got better. Right now they are VERY better. SO MUCH better. Because:
I have a new computer! It's bought and everything.
Or at least I will when it arrives. Next week.
Ohhhhh, I am SO happy right now.
