I don't doubt that this is all one-sided, and some of it may be (probably is) fudged/biased, but...

Does Milk Really Do a Body Good?

"The dairy folks, ever since the 1920s, have been enormously successful in cultivating an environment within virtually all segments of our society--from research and education to public relations and politics--to have us believing that cow's milk and its products are manna from heaven. ... Make no mistake about it; the dairy industry has been virtually in total control of any and all public health information that ever rises to the level of public scrutiny" -Dr. T Colin Campbell, Professor of nutritional biochemistry at Cornell University

Ever seen the "3-A-Day (Milk, Cheese, Yogurt) For Stronger Bones" Advertisement on TV? In fact...
- After looking at 34 published studies in 16 countries, researchers at Yale University found that the countries with the highest rates of osteoporosis--including the United States, Sweden, and Finland--were those in which people consumed the most meat, milk, and other animal foods.
- Harvard University's landmark Nurses Health Study, which followed 78,000 women over a 12-year period, found that the women who consumed the most calcium from dairy foods broke more bones than those who rarely drank milk.

Ever heard that "Happy Cows Come From California"? In fact...
- Calves born on dairy farms are taken from their mothers when they are just 1 day old and fed milk replacers (including cattle blood) so that humans can have their mother's milk instead.
- Although these animals would naturally make only enough milk to meet the needs of their calves (around 16 pounds a day_, genetic manipulation, antibiotics, and hormones are used to force each cow to produc3e an average of 50 pounds a day. Cows are also fed unnatural, high-protein diets, which include dead chickens, pigs, and other animals, because their natural diet of grass would not provide the nutrients necessary for them to produce the massive amounts of milk required by the industry.

Ever heard that "Milk Does a Body Good"? In fact...
- The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) warn that dairy products have four major drawbacks. Milk and cheese (1) are loaded with fat and cholesterol; (2) are frequently contaminated with pesticides, dioxins, and drugs; (3) are linked to obesity, heart disease, and certain cancers, including prostate cancer and breast cancer; and (4) may even cause osteoporosis, because the excess protein in dairy product leaches calcium from the bones.

Having done research on groups like the ELF and PETA, I would recommend that the grain of salt you take this with be very large. This is, I will repeat, from a table tent found in Frank dining hall.
